President Park Said to Direct Lobbying (1978)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
From the Washington Post, by Charles B. BabcockWashington Post
March 16, 1978         page A1-27
by Charles R. Babcock
Washington Post Staff Writer
U.S. Intelligence agencies reported during the early 1970s that South Korean President Park Chung Hee was personally directing a broad-scale covert lobbying campaign in the United States, according to summaries of secret documents released yesterday.
Rep. Donald M. Fraser (D-Minn.), chairman of a House International Relations subcommittee investigating U.S.-Korean relations, said the intelligence reports show that President Park once considered, but rejected, a plan placing businessman Tongsun Park in charge of all the Korean lobbying in Washington.
Instead, President Park and his top advisers set up a special “foreign policy review board,” Fraser said, to coordinate a variety of lobbying operations. The lobbying was aimed at ensuring the flow of U.S. military and economic aid to Korea.
Though U.S. intelligence agencies were sending detailed reports of the meetings in the Korean presidential mansion, the Blue House, to Washington as early as 1971, the Nixon administration failed to take adequate steps to stop the improper lobbying, Fraser added.
Yesterday’s hearing was the first of several in which the subcommittee seeks to document how much the U.S. executive branch knew of the Korean effort. Former Secretary of State Henry A. Kissinger and former Attorney General John N. Mitchell are among those the subcommittee hopes to call as witnesses next week, Fraser said.
Some of the documents released yesterday indicate that the FBI either was not aware of or ignored some of the intelligence reports on Tongsun Park’s activities. A subcommittee investigator said yesterday that coming hearings would establish that other, very specific, intelligence information was available at the time but not acted on by federal investigators.
The subcommittee is studying the Korean lobbying as a sort of case history of a failure of U.S. foreign policy. Its approach has been scholarly at times, since its aim is not to punish wrongdoers.
The House Committee on Standards of Official Conduct is conducting an investigation of members who may have violated ethical standards by accepting cash or favors from Koreans.
William J. Porter, U.S. ambassador to Korea at the time the lobbying campaign was initiated, testified that he witnessed the lobbying grow to a point where “everyone was talking about the lavish way the Koreans were approaching the legislative branch. Tongsun Park was cutting too wide a swath.” But the U.S. government, he said, was “very permissive” in its attitude toward the lobbying. “It must have been [permissive], voluntarily or by oversight, for the thing to grow as the Tongsun Park thing did from 1972 to 1975 or 6.”
Porter said Tongsun Park was spending so much money and had so much freedom of action that he thought some group, probably the Korean Central Intelligence Agency, was subsidizing Park.
Tongsun Park has been indicted for conspiring to bribe members of Congress and for failing to register as a foreign agent, and is now back in Washington to testify before congressional investigators and at the bribery trial of former Rep. Richard T. Hanna (D-Calif.). It has been reported that Tongsun Park made more than $750,000 in payments, mostly in cash, to members of Congress during the early 1970s.
The Korean government has consistently denied that Park was its agent.
The Washington Post reported in October 1976 that the Korean lobbying effort was initiated by President Park in meetings at the Blue House, and that U.S. intelligence reports “apparently” included tape recordings of those meetings.
In releasing the summary of U.S. intelligence reports on those meetings yesterday, subcommittee investigators said the source was considered “highly reliable.” There was no evidence it was a bug or wiretap on the Korean president’s residence, however, they said.
Porter said he was skeptical about the reliability of the reports and strongly implied they had come from a Korean official in Seoul. “They didn’t tell our people any more than they wanted to say,” he said. “They know how to keep secrets.” “I wouldn’t bet on that, necessarily, as a useful report on what went on at those meetings,” he said. Porter backed off, however, when Fraser challenged him because he, as ambassador, was responsible for the intelligence reporting sent from the embassy to Washington. He said he didn’t know the source.
The intelligence summaries of the Blue House meetings said that among those considered to be placed under Tongsun Park’s control were Lee Sang Ho, the KCIA station chief in Washington (whose real name is Yang Du Won); Pak Bo Hi , head of the Korean Cultural and Freedom Foundation in Washington, and Kang Young Hoon, a former Korean Army general who headed a research Institute on Korean affairs in suburban Washington.
Pak, who is now the chief aide to Korean evangelist Sun Myung Moon, attended the hearing yesterday and denied in a hallway interview—as he has before—that he has ever acted at the direction of the Korean government.
The subcommittee also released yesterday a 708-page book of documents that includes a variety of FBI, CIA and other investigative reports. Among the records are:
A February 1963 CIA report that says Moon’s Unification Church was organized by high-ranking government official Kim Jong Pil while he was head of the KCIA. The report was labeled as unevaluated, however, and it is generally believed that Moon founded his church in 1954, before President Park came to power and the KCIA was founded.
Exchanges of correspondence between the State and Justice departments in 1971, including a “secret” June 1971 memo in which State passed on CIA references to Korean intelligence connections involving Tongsun Park and Pak Bo Hi.
Justice responded by conducting what the documents show to be only a cursory investigation that didn’t include any interview of Tongsun Park. In one Justice memo, he is referred to as Mr. Sun.
On the other side of Capitol Hill, meanwhile, Tongsun Park continued to answer questions in a closed session of the Senate Ethics Committee, which is probing senators’ possible involvement in the influence-buying effort.
Park’s performance yesterday, his second day before the Senate panel, raised doubts about his credibility, according to Sen. Harrison Schmitt (R-N.M.). “He is extremely good, apparently, at anticipating what we know,” said Schmitt. “He remembers everything we already know, but not some other things. So there still is a question of credibility.” Schmitt said it is “too early to say” whether the committee will uncover evidence leading to disciplinary action against any present or former senators.

See You in My 19th Life (2023)
Tumblr media
I unabashedly love this show. The actors, the characters, the way it was shot, the convoluted dramatic plot that seems to bend back on itself, it all works for me. But you have to keep in mind that this is not a romcom: it's a weepy dramedy with big romantic feels.
What worked
This cast is so great. Beautiful people acting out big feelings while telling a good story. The cinematography was excellent, restrained when it needed to be and leaning hard into the fantasy to tell the story in other places. The plot didn't always make logic sense, but the writing was very good at getting across the feelings it wants you to feel.
What Didn't Work
Some of the musical cues bothered me, especially when it tried to play up this big mystery about Kang Min-gi. (Was he a bad guy? Yes. Did he deserve his own sinister background music when he came on screen? No.) Also, there were a few logic breaks that I feel like would have been ironed out if they'd had 16 episodes instead of 12. Finally, I'm not an expert, but people who have read the webtoon it was based on were disappointed with some of the departures from the original story. None of this bothered me, because it had so many high moments.
The Performances
Shin Hye-sun as (19th lifer) Ban Ji-eum. I would die for this character. I would love to see her play a short season of the Korean version of Doctor Who, because she would nail that role. It wasn't just the moments of a beautiful person looking sad about drama, she played the comic parts well, she played the angry parts well, she was downright weird at times in a way that was unsettling, and that totally worked for this character. I now have to go back and see everything this actor has been in before now.
Ahn Bo-hyun as (sad rich boi) Moon Seo-ha. This actor was also really good. He had to play it straight and stoic through much of the series, and that could come across as wooden in some scenes, but then they would let him loose in a scene and it was amazing to watch. His chemistry with Shin Hye-sun was so good, as well.
Ha Yoon-kyung as (spring sunshine) Yoon Cho-won. I loved her in Extraordinary Attorney Woo, and this is even better. Her best role yet. The second lead couple in this was (somewhat) less emotional, and that made the slow burn more enjoyable in some ways. But I really loved the scenes with Cho-won and Ji-eum. Just as much fun to watch as the romantic scenes.
Ahn Dong-goo as (the driver) Ha Do-yoon. Somehow, this guy had to be more stoic than Ahn Bo-hyun's character, which made the moments when the emotions leaked out of him even more electric. I wish we'd had a few more episodes to get some happy romantic moments towards the end of the series, but he was still great to watch on screen and did an excellent job.
Cha Chung-hwa as (the niece) Kim Ae-kyung. She was good in Hometown Cha x 3, but I would riot if something bad happened to her character in this drama. Did I riot? Watch and find out!
Lee Si-woo as (the little brother) Ha Do-jin. A delightful character played really well by Lee Si-woo. It was always a fun scene when he showed up.
Lee Chae-min as (one weird guy) Kang Min-gi. I always felt unsettled when this guy was in a scene. In case you had doubts about the guy, he had creepy music following him around the entire series, but the actor didn't really need it.
Kang Myung-joo as (the sad mother) Jo Yoo-seon. I really loved her performances even though they were usually the saddest scenes. She had so few lines, and managed to do alot with them.
Bae Hae-sun as (evil stepmom) Jang Yeon-ok. I especially disliked her. The actor did a great job of playing a shameless, entitled backstabber. Nice to see her get a bigger role (liked her in It's okay to not be okay), even if it is as someone not very nice.
Baek Seung-cheol as (all time bad dad) Ban Hak-su. I hated this character so much, which shows the actor did a great job.
Moon Dong-hyuk as (bad brother) Ban Dong-woo. I loathed and pitied this character, overall another good performance.
Kim Si-a as (the 18th lifer) Yoon Joo-won. She did a very good job in some tough scenes. I'm always amazed at how good some of these young actors are.
Park So-yi as (the young 19th lifer) Ban Ji-eum. Very good in the episodes she showed up. Was fun seeing her onscreen opposite Ahn Bo-hyun.
Lee Han-na as (mystery girl) Han-na. They should have done more with this character or figured out how to do without her completely. They just didn't have the episode time to do her justice. Overall, an okay actor that was completely overshadowed by the other actors.
Seo-ha's Family. I'm usually indifferent to chaebol corporate nonsense, but the actors did an excellent job of making you feel like part of the family. A terrible family, that treated Seo-ha terribly. The uncle (played by Lee Hae-young) was a standout, but they were all good in their own way, including the step-brother.
The past lives. I really enjoyed the different past lives. They didn't always have alot of lines, but they still made you feel something as you got little snapshots of harrowing moments in their lives.
The bad rich boy society guys. Honorable mention. I didn't always know their names, but every scene where they mistreated Ha Do-yoon's character was still infuriating, and that was on the actors as much as the writing.
TL;DR
This show is something special. I highly recommend it if you have any kind of interest in the premise. I will definitely be rewatching it.

This is a sneak preview of episode 7 and I have no idea what they’re talking about but what this scene does for me is make me firm in my opinion that Lee In knows exactly who and what Kang Mongwoo is. In addition, I also surmise that he’s known for quite a while now but chooses not to reveal it to anyone because this is critical knowledge that he can use in the future. Knowledge is power, after all.
Why do I say this? For one, Kang Hee-soo/Mongwoo’s father is his former master and closest confidant among all the ministers of the court. There would have been a good number of times that he may have caught a glimpse of the Chief State Councillor’s daughter. And he did see her the last time he went to her home, shortly before her father was exiled to Qing. Granted, it was quite a distance and Lee In was preoccupied at the time. But I think his sharp intellect allows him to file away such bits of information and recollect them afterwards to analyze them.
Lee In’s actions towards Mongwoo and the other prisoners were lenient, considering what they were accused of. It was almost as if he was appeasing his enemies, yet protecting his people at the same time. He needs to get Yoo Hyun-bo to his side so he can use the latter’s knowledge to defeat Minister of War Kim Jong-bae and keep his power and influence over the court in check. Yet that would mean getting rid of Minister Kim, and he did, in the most humiliating way possible. This resulted in his earning the vengeful anger of Kim Myung-ha, the Minister’s son, whom Lee In could’ve persuaded to swing to his side if he wanted, given how Myung-ha seems to disgree with his father’s ruthless manner of politics. Myung-ha even suspects Yoo Hyun-bo and despises him for the sycophant that he us.
Then he makes everyone believe that all he is is a depraved ruler. One last hint that I think will prove critical in the story’s development is how he banished the Queen to a monastery, while keeping his nephew, the Grand Prince and his older sister within his protection.
There are still so many hints throughout the last 6 episodes that show how keen his intellect is and how perfectly he plays the game of the court. He’s learned from the best people and under the best circumstances. He was a Josen hostage in the Qing court and managed to win over the Qing Emperor’s powerful and influential brother, Prince Rui. This resulted in him being able to secure not just his own release but also those of his people.
Lee In is constantly playing baduk, but not always with stones and not always on a wooden table.
So what does this have to do with him knowing Kang Mongwoo’s true identity? Everything.
Lee In survived the dangers of the Joseon and Qing courts by being highly observant of his surroundings and as a keen judge of character. It allowed him to gauge the motivations around him and to strategize how he can achieve his goals by somehow manipulating them to his advantage.
Thus, if initially he thought Kang Mongwoo was a man, I’m sure he saw many tell-tale signs early on, keen observer that he is, of her being female. Yet since he’s still trying to understand what her motivations are for putting her life at risk with such an act, he doesn’t blow her cover.
But his actions doesn’t mean to say he isn’t genuine in his feelings towards her. It’s just that being highly analytical and observant is already second nature to him and he applies it to everything and everyone.
If the drama decides to make it such that he is shocked when she reveals her true identity, I would be very much disappointed because it would contradict Lee In’s character and personality.

Itaewon Class. 이태원 클라쓰. 7.6/10
I would not recommend this drama to my friends. I would not rewatch this drama.
Interesting themes of existentialism, family problems, receiving help or not, giving the baton to the other person since you've made your opinions or feelings clear, and choosing the right choice. It's interesting how many characters are like now it's up to you, you hold the cards. Saeroyi has an impact on people throughout time, and his actions stay memorable to people enough to change them. I cannot fathom that impact considering how I could do the same but those actions would just be forgotten. I do think it can oftentimes be about the person and not the action. Or at least the perception of the person. I get a lot of similar sentiments to Prison Playbook. Even Saeroyi's weird hair. His morals and this community building are like Prison Playbook.
Once Saeyori started reciprocating feelings for Yi Seo, I thought they were soo cute. I feel warm despite comments I've heard that they don't have chemistry. I don't relate. I so understand Saeroyi when like feelings are involved so it's more difficult to have skinship like petting Yi Seo's hair. Geun Soo recognizing that the person he likes is bad to him..those moments are sad to me bc I get it. Geun Soo is literally MIchael Corleone.
Seong Kwon was hot when fighting Hee Hoon. I'm here for Saeroyi in nice clothes by the end. Park Bogum being a handsome chef is the randomest thing but thanks for popping up. Saeroyi's money-building plans are so hot. Saeroyi's awkwardness and physical motions are so adorable, especially when trying to befriend Soo Ah.
Is escaping a kidnapping really the place for a love confession? I really thought the Best Pub show was gonna be rigged. People are so extreme with their feelings, especially Geun Soo. The name Saeyori is so saerowuh.
I like that Yi Seo draws. I love Hong Suk Chun being a likeable minor character. I love seeing Yi Seo fall for Saeroyi, especially when she asks for help in the restroom. Wow Saeroyi put his hand on Yi Seo's head. I would fall too. It's actually impressive how Yi Seo sold herself to become manager. I love Yi Seo explaining clubbing to Seung Kwon. I love how Yi Seo cockblocks Soo Ah's first kiss with Saeroyi, Idk what I would've done in that situation. I love the plants in Yi Seo's office.
Everyone's morals are so stubborn, but individual. I actually love it because I relate to it a lot. My moral gray gets it. The toxicity of people who choose bad when they also don't want to. I've seen it so much. I can't with Soo Ah in the beginning disliking receiving help and people asking for help yet she becomes a sub for Jang Dae Hee.
The emotions on Saeroyi's face, amazing. Son Hyun Joo plays such a pivotal character. Why is he so ideally optimistic and casual and supportive and the dad of all dads? He also has a cute personality. Saeroyi and his dad's dynamic, unbelievable. Especially, when an orphanage is a relevant concept. Yi Seo and her mom also have an interesting relationship.
Can you believe this cast? My babies, Ahn Bo Hyun & Park Bo Gum. Kim Hye Eun, a queen as always. Son Hyun Joo, the man I've known forever. I easily recognized Kang Hyoung Suk from Hometown Cha Cha Cha. Yoo Jae Myung playing this kind of character when he's literally like Son Hyun Joo's character in Vincenzo. & then Yi Seo's mom is literally the villain in Vincenzo. Interesting to see Lee Joo Young as a transgender character.
Memorable Quotes: "청춘의 완성." "지금껏 힘든 날도 슬픈 날도 많았지만, 살다 보면 가끔 그렇게 재밌는 일들이 벌어지고 해." "보통의 하루."

Cunning Single Lady. 8
Story: 7
Acting: 10
Chemistry: 9-10
Comparable to: Emergency Couple (kdrama); Go Back Couple (kdrama)
Oof this was hard on me hitting me with the second male syndrome badly. The title of this drama doesn’t really help this drama out at all nor does the synopsis depending on where you read it, but it’s actually a cute decent drama. The whole storyline Is about a failed marriage on both sides. Male blames female, female blames male. Divorce. More or less both are really bad not communicating with one another, but I did feel more sorry for Lee Min Jung’s character especially throughout the series. The drama is far from perfect. It’s cliche, predictable, and corny sometimes, but the acting is spot on and overall it’s pretty hilarious. Yes there’s that glimmer of annoyance, like I said it was really really hard for me on the second male lead syndrome part and of coarse it didn’t help when it’s Seo Kang Joon who to me is like the king SML and plays it so well 🥲😭 (need more dramas from him -sigh-) Try a few episodes to see if you like it, it won’t be everyone’s taste.

My controversial Kdrama opinions
1. Ko Moon Young was just a psychologically messed up girl. She isn't the 'girlpower' or 'badass' that the Kdrama fandom likes to dub her into.
2. In 'Hotel del Luna', they could've just chucked the entire character of Gu Chansung out of the window and gave Chang Myung a rebirth/rebirths,make him go through various trials and tribulations to repent and earn Man Wol's forgiveness. Didn't have to make it unnecessarily tragic.
3. Unnecessarily tragic reminds me, the 'realistic' ending of 2521 was a JOKE. There was NO point of developing such a power couple if they were to break up for such a mundane reason.
4. Romance genre isn't Song Kang's 'thing'. He shines better as an actor in non-romance genres.
5. Had they focused on developing Ju Kyung as an individual character who finally learns how to completely take a stand for herself instead of dangling her between Suho and Seojun, 'True Beauty' would've become a more popular and appreciated drama.
6. The love line between Hwang InYeop and Seo Hyun Jin's character in 'Why her: Oh Soo Jae' was absolutely unnecessary and awkward.
7. Jo Bo Ah and Ahn Bo Hyun and an amazing chemistry in 'Military Prosecutor: Do Bae Man'. However, they could've developed a slowburn romance between them instead of abruptly putting a kiss sequence in the last episode out of nowhere.
8. In 'Snowdrop', Eun Young Ro forgiving Soo Ho later on didn't make sense. Their kiss sequence was purely fan service, nothing else.
9. Individual acting aside,Kim Hye Yoon had more chemistry with Lee Jae Wook(2nd lead) than Rowoon(main lead) in 'Extraordinary You'.
10. Writers are overusing 'Let's kill off the main character and make the show tragically memorable' trope wayyy too much.
11. As much as it physically hurts me given the chemistry of the actors,Choi Do Il and Oh In Joo not having any proper romantic sequence till the end of 'Little Women' makes sense to the storyline(the shipper me might've wanted a hug though).
12. Also the writers should stop doing the 'lets make the second lead better than the main lead'. Its annoying to see one person actually making sincere effort for the girl but the girl ends up totally ignoring their effort and like the ML. Not in just Kdramas but in all sorts of dramas. I actually saw a Chinese drama where the second lead finally turned into a villain. I LITERALLY commented 'good for him' lmao.
13. Sunho in 'Cheer Up' is problematic. Neither his sad backstory nor his sincere feelings for Haeyi changes that fact.
14. The Heirs(2013) drama wasted an opportunity to pair Young Do(Kim Woobin) with Yoo Rachel(Kim Jiwon). No, they didn't need to be 'siblings'. I'd have chosen the two heartbroken yet sassy and tough people romance over the sappy romance of the main couple in a heartbeat. And the actors would've NAILED it.
15. Jojo not ending up with Sunho in 'Love Alarm' finally broke the 'Cinderella and Prince Charming' fairytale trope of Kdramas. That girl was too messed up in the head . She didn't need the rich, fierce and impulsive lover, but the quite, patient and thoughtful one. So don't go ahead and say the ending sucked. Maybe they could've made things more coherent, but no the ending didn't suck.
16. Moon Dong Eun should have remained single, with the last episode ending with him crossing paths with Do Yeong, with Yeonjin & gang & all the revenge agenda gone, she could hv offered him a smile and a game of Go, keeping an open ending for them. Lee Do Hyun was fabulous in playing Yeojeong and their chemistry was amazing. But they could hv just been partners in crime with their teamwork without the romantic plot between them.
17. No. Ryu Shi Oh doesn't give second lead syndrome. Byun Woo Seok is a very good actor but he plays the villain in 'Strong Woman Kang Nam Soon' and not anti-hero. Lee Yoo Mi and him should be paired opposite to e/o in some other project in the future but Shi Oh and Nam Soon ain't the 'enemies to lovers' you think it is.
18. After Byun Woo Seok's popularity skyrocketed with 'Lovely Runner', many people dug up his previous works & lamented over not noticing him earlier. People even felt sad that he got his recognition late. But honestly, he wasn't very noticeable as an actor in his earlier stages imo. He kept working hard on his acting skills to get to where he is now. What I applaud about him is not giving up & putting the efforts in all right places but he didn't start from a 100.
19. I'm actually glad they brought back the fresh romcoms in 2024. Got tired of consistently watching crime thrillers, school violence, zombie apocalypse and stuff. I mean, of course they're good. But the key ingredient for Kdramas will always be those cringey classic slightly over-the-top romcoms.
20. Cha Eunwoo's acting in 'My ID is Gangnam Beauty' isn't as bad as people try to make it. His character actually demanded those stank cold expressions that he delivered. In fact, I'd say his character Do Kyeong Seok was one of the first Kdrama male leads that actually understood and empathised with the FL's situation and protected her in his own way without going over-the-top cliche "she is my yeoja and only I can bother her" about it.
21. In the 'No Gain, No Love' Kdrama, the romantic pairing of Ja Yeon and Gyu Hyun felt very forced to me. I was actually hoping for Hajun to shine instead of reducing him into just a 'former crush'. I'd rather have Hajun regretting looking down on an erotica novelist and leaving mean comment, sort things up with Ja Yeon and actually catch feelings for her respecting her as a person than this mishmash of 'Richman poor woman plus marrying my antifan' trope. The actors individually were great with their parts but I see them as in laws of the main couple ending on good terms rather than a romantic pairing itself. Ironically, this is the only second lead pairing that gets their own spinoff as leads.

plots ( preference for f/f, f/m, f/nb )
chloe (2009) inspired; muse a suspects their spouse of having an affair after seeing a suspicious  photo of them with someone else. by chance, muse a encounters muse b and discovers that muse b is a call girl that seems to work in the same neighborhood as muse a. muse a ends up hiring muse b to test their spouse’s loyalty. as muse b comes back to say their spouse did in fact take the bait, muse a and muse b begin to grow closer until they begin having an affair of their own.
gilmore girls inspired: rory x jess; give me a small town with muse a being the golden child of the town (golden adult tbh) and muse b being a newcomer that screams trouble. no one in town seems to like muse b and that’s perfectly fine with them since this is the last place they wanna be (maybe they got job transferred there or they have family they had to take care of or just family business to take of in general), but for whatever reason is drawn to muse a (and is about the only person in town they find remotely tolerable/interesting), and so they start a very unlikely friendship. muse a can be in some long-term relationship (and/or long-distance), so all the angst when there’s also a natural chemistry there with muse a trying to figure out what to do and muse b not exactly being subtly about their interest in them.
the handmaiden inspired; muse a is a con artist with a plan to marry muse b so they can steal their riches from right under their nose. the only problem? muse b is a recluse that doesn’t trust strangers easily and needs convincing to marry muse a. in an attempt to win over muse b’s affections, muse a hires them a personal assistant, muse c, who is actually a petty theft and forger muse a found. muse c is told to befriend muse b and to slowly convince muse b to give muse a a chance to be wooed. as muse c and muse b become closer, muse c begins to feel increasingly guilty over the plans to screw them over. and as muse c does their job of pushing muse a and muse b together, they can’t help but notice a growing jealousy at their interactions.
jennifer’s body inspired; muse a and muse b have been best friends forever even though they seem to have nothing in common. after muse a is falsely sacrificed as a virgin for some up-and-coming band, they’re suddenly brought back to life and possessed by some other-worldly creature that can only be satisfied with the consumption of human flesh. muse b seems to be the only person to have figured out what is happening and tries to do something about it to help muse a. but instead of the movie’s ending of muse b stopping/killing muse a, cue to sexual awakenings, muse b wanting to help muse a stay alive and/or helping muse a commit their heinous acts, and them being just dangerous girlfriends together that get rid of scummy dudes.
kiki’s delivery service x howl’s moving castle inspired; muse a’s powers as a witch/wizard has finally come in. to carry on tradition, they must leave home and try to make a name for themselves elsewhere as they learn how to use their powers. excited for the adventure, muse a takes off and ends up in a small port town only to realize how difficult it actually is to be a brand new witch/wizard without any real guidance. so when muse a is in town and notices witch/wizard muse b, they become determined to befriend them and try to get them to mentor them. but others warn muse a that muse b is a mysterious recluse with a rather reckless reputation tacked to them and that they’re better off looking for guidance from another. undeterred, muse a settles on weaseling their way into muse b’s life whether they like it or not.
peter pan inspired: tink x hook; muse a has been in love with their best friend for as long as they can remember. but when their best friend finds love in the arms of someone else, muse a can’t help but feel bitter and angry over it. hoping to make their friend jealous, muse a decides to get chummy with their best friend’s worst enemy, muse b.
the rookie inspired: tim x lucy; muse a is a hard-ass, no nonsense training officer to enthusiastic rookie cop, muse b. muse b wants nothing more than to succeed buy constantly clashes with muse a personality wise without meaning to. eventually muse b is able to obtain muse a’s respect and approval, and the pair end up forming a rather close bond by the time muse b’s time as a rookie comes to an end. as muse b begins taking an interest in undercover work, muse a and b get pulled into an assignment where they’re forced to pretend to be a couple to close a case. but as they begin to play the part they start to realize that maybe they aren’t exactly just playing at being a fake couple.
-- anyone wanna do a modern romeo/juliet plot?? where their parents are the heads of rival companies or are huge celebrities who have been in a known feud for years and they meet and try to sneak around in secret but there’s paparazzi and tabloids and all that someone please do this with me
-- all i want right now is a cliché undercover marriage 1x1 where there’s two spies who hate each other and everyone knows it but now they’re the only two available for this long term undercover mission as a married couple in an apartment/suburb and they have to be believable through dinner parties and etc. just pleASE give this to me
-- “You’re the sibling of a celebrity and hate your sibling’s celebrity bestie because their cocky and annoying, but oops the bestie falls for you and now is trying to win your attention/affection by sending you gifts and talking about you in interviews and maybe you don’t totally hate the attention after all.”
-- “Muse A is well-mannered, polite, quiet, and shy, and Muse B didn’t even know they existed until they tap on Muse B’s shoulder and asks them out super awkwardly/nervously. Muse B, feeling bad for them, agrees and ends up having a rather awkward and weird first date with them. Despite this, Muse A asks them out a second time, and while Muse B doesn’t exactly think it’s a good idea, finds themselves agreeing again. Of course the second time around, Muse A goes in for a kiss and it ends up not being chaste, sweet, or awkward like Muse B expects, but instead it’s rough and passionate and oops, now Muse B is a little more interested to see where things lead.”
-- “A plot where a flower crown, summer dress wearing innocent princess of a girl goes to a festival and by chance meets the lead guitarist of one of the head-lining acts. He’s super punk and is known as the player/heartbreaker of his band and first of all just sees the girl as another groupie to add to his list–there’s lots of sneaking back stage and into tents when its dead late and eye fucking when he’s on stage. Then surprise, surprise, he falls hard for her her only to find out later that she has some sophisticated, rich boyfriend from some ivy league college and she’s not actually so innocent after all.”
-- a rough around the edges, con artist girl is doing dirty work for her shitty boyfriend and they decide to target a rich, wealthy, cocky sort of young socialite male who feels like his life is a bit empty and redundant, and she may seem like she’s in this con artist game for the money (and she is, partly, because she grew up really poor and knows how it feels to starve) but she also has an unhealthy attachment to the boyfriend even though he treats her like crap and uses her to attract rich males, and then, on the night where she has dressed up and come up with a fake name and is about to make her move on the rich young man she realizes oh, he’s actually extremely attractive and cute and not like the other creepy old men she preys on? and oh, he’s actually extremely charismatic and witty and charming and kind of a dick, but not to her? and oh, now they’re kind of going out on multiple really amazing dates and spending tons of time together and she’s supposed to be digging for his deepest secrets and finding out numbers to his safes and stealing jewelry pieces he probably won’t miss and then one night, her wallet falls out of her bag and… OH, why is her name not the name that she said it was on her drivers license and why are his personal, private cartier bracelets engraved with his initials in there too and who the fuck is calling her phone ??????
-- what if we ,, uh ,, have a ship that was college / high school “almost’s” and they always danced around their feelings because they didn’t want to ruin their friendship but they had all of these little moments where something almost happened anyway lakjfds they graduate and lose touch only to see each other again at a reunion and all of those feelings are back as if nothing changed but they’re older and wiser now and they spend the whole night talking about how dumb they were only to f i n a l l y kiss but then uh oh they live in different cities or one of them is on break with their partner or whatever to complicate things … nah … unless ??
-- a plot where muse a and b hate each other. and by hate, i mean completely and utterly loathe one another. they turn on their heel and walk out of a room when they spot each other, they insult each other at every opportunity they get, and they’d rather sit on a spinning blade than spend time together doing anything but screaming at each other – unless they’re fucking. as much as they can’t stand one another, they drive each other crazy, good crazy, in bed. she comes out with bruises on her hips and hickies on her thighs while he’s got scratches trailing down his back and chest. they hate each other, but they love fucking, and their sex is full of pulling and scratching and biting and shut the fuck up and say my fucking name and the second they’re finished, one’s kicking the other out. this behavior continues for a while, both showing no signs of liking each other, even a little, until one day muse b fucks up and says the ‘l’ word in bed. he leaves immediately, and they avoid each other for days until muse a snaps and goes to his apartment and they fight and fight and fight until they’re fucking again, and afterwards they fight more and he’s shirtless and defensive and she’s in her bra and on the verge of tears because somehow, they ended up loving each other, and suddenly every day when they fight, the 'i hate you’s sound like 'i love you’s and the sex feels like making love and somehow they hate that even more, because hate is all they know how to feel.
-- Honestly I just want a 1x1 where Muse A is a cop’s daughter, who always has straight a’s and never disobeys, and one day she has to stop by the police station (for something, like car keys) and her father is arresting Muse B whose this total badass who drinks, does drugs and sleeps around. So Muse B corrupts Muse A and obviously it’s a forbidden relationship so it’s a lot of sneaking around to have sex and such. But in the end, it’s Muse A whose corrupting Muse B because B hasn’t had anyone in his life to care for and who cares for him.
